It is a 3 years fixed-term position, with the possibility of a 4th year with compulsory work (e.g. teaching and decentralized competence development).The Centre for the Science of Learning & Technology (SLATE) located at the Faculty of Psychology is a learning sciences research centre. SLATE carries out interdisciplinary research on the technological, pedagogical, cultural, ethical, and legal aspects of learning analytics (LA) and artificial intelligence in education (AIEd) and promote the responsible use of technology in education. We are a dynamic and including milieu of around 23 persons, including faculty, researchers, adjuncts, postdocs, PhDs candidates, and support staff. All employees are expected to contribute to the success of the centre.About the positionWe are looking for a motivated and dedicated forward-thinking individual to join our team as a learning analytics researcher specialising in artificial intelligence in education. In this role, you will focus on cutting-edge research in the field of education, in higher education and/or K-12 schools, in particular tied to natural language processing and generative AI. Your primary responsibilities will involve conducting in-depth research, analysing educational data, and designing innovative AI-driven solutions to address critical challenges in the education sector. Collaborating closely with fellow researchers and educators, you will contribute to advancing our understanding of how AI and learning analytics can enhance learning outcomes and educational practices. The fixed-term period for this position is 3 years, with the possibility of a 4th year. Individuals may not be hired for more than one fixed-term period as a postdoctoral research fellow at the same institution. Upon appointment, applicants must submit a project proposal for the qualifying work including a work schedule. For postdoctoral research fellow positions associated with externally financed projects, the completion of the project proposal for the qualifying work will take place in consultation with the project/centre manager.
