The candidate will perform experimental work on immiscible two-phase flow in artificial porous structures produced via 3D printing, employing techniques developed at the PoreLab SFF. The aim of the researcher project is to increase the understanding of how different forces both short range (e.g. capillary forces) and long range (e.g. viscous and gravitational forces) act in different flow regimes. Special attention will be put on fluid invasion mechanisms like corner and film flow which are of great importance for the understanding several natural phenomena, such as the interconnectivity of water bodies in soils and water uptake on plants in dry regions.Qualification requirementsThe Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has a strategic ambition to be among Europe’s leading communities for research, education and innovation.
