CLOSING DATE 20 OCTOBER 2023NOV Process Flow & Technologies is seeking a qualified and highly experienced Project Engineering Manager to join our team in Fornebu. As an NOV Project Engineering Manager you will have the opportunity to work with great teams of engineers on challenging high spec EPC projects. This role is a critical part of the assigned Project Management Team and is the Project Manager’s right hand. You will be the spearhead of the technical execution that will be responsible for ensuring that we deliver what was promised in the technical specifications at the agreed time and at the expected quality.Depending on the allocated project scopes, you may be required to simultaneously lead varying engineering teams of multiple execution projects, so teamwork and delegation is essential. You will be responsible for planning and executing the engineering work for dedicated projects, including all technical areas such as Process, Electrical, Instrument & Control, Telecoms, Mechanical, Piping-Layout, 3D modeling, and Structure. You will manage and control the team to and ensure that engineering deliverables are completed in accordance with the Project Execution Model, contract requirements, and client needs. The types of EPC projects you will be involved in, typically have teams consisting of around 40-100+ people across disciplines with a range of 40,000 to 150,000+ manhours. Project budgets may be in the region of 30M – 100MUSD+, depending on the scope. This is not a line manager position and though you will not have any direct reports, you will be a key leader in the engineering organization and help, guide and support your project team’s growth and development objectives as they work towards project goals.Our Expectations:A thorough knowledge and understanding of project execution and the interlink between technical disciplines, the engineering sequence, procurement and planning. Deliver engineering, on time, on quality according to NOV practices, guidelines and procedures. You will work closely with the Project Manager, Engineering and procurement Leads to deliver the project scope. Ability to follow-up, secure and manage the information needs for the engineering activities and sequence, with full control and overview of the project deliverables.Its expected that the PEMs to be good communicators and be proactive to resolve issues and challenges, identify improvement opportunities and contribute to a continuous improvement culture to maintain delivery of value at the fore front of project execution and secure efficiency on your project allocations. Ensure that lessons identified, captured, understood and learned for future improvement. Maintain a calm and positive demeanor in challenging discussions and able to articulate complex issues and solutions to clear and concise terms that non-technical persons understand.Co-ordinate and collaborate with other members of the Engineering Management Group and departments within NOV, such as BD, sales and Life Cycle Services to further the value offering of NOV Wellstream. Proactively gain and share knowledge and experience with your team and department. Demonstration of a high initiative and drive when working as team or on your own with a strong ability to decide and close actions and secure progress.In addition to your technical skills, you should take ownership and proactively follow up the projects you are responsible for. Be a good team player with excellent communication skills and multicultural understanding to get the best from your team. What you need:To succeed in this role, You shouldHave a degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline with 5-10 years’ experience in a similar role / level of responsibility managing multidiscipline engineering teams in EPC projects.Strong familiarity with the interfaces between engineering, procurement and fabrication of process/utility/topside modules and skids that consist of rotating & static equipment, piping, valves, instrumentation and ancillary equipment.Proactive attitude, cooperation skills and an active communication style are essential to this position. Innovative and passionate with a can-do attitude, with a culture of right first time and ownership of problems to get things done. Engaged, enthusiastic and proactive with a systematic approach to work, with good technical, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills and able to build relationships to get the best out of your teams.An eye for and focus on the right quality for on time delivery when working under pressure.Must be able to plan and prioritise own activities, manage your work load with minimum supervision Strong ability to effectively delegate and follow up on actions and be a facilitator for completing activities and removing bottlenecks.A general understanding of the business area is an advantage and we appreciate work experience from the energy industry and an understanding of different disciplines such as mechanical, process, structural, piping, EICT engineering, You enjoy managing the technical side of a project and solving detailed engineering problems, making prioritization as you go. You need certain amount of creativity and as Engineering Manager you can make informed decisions in sometimes changing and uncertain situations.You should be organized and be able identify priorities and key activities to meet both technical and commercial milestones, having a good commercial understanding is beneficial.
