AutoStore is hiring a Senior Product & Design Engineer with focus on plastic parts As a Senior Product & Design Engineer in the Modules Bin team you will be part of AutoStore’s extensive multidisciplinary Research & Development department. The specialized Bin team is responsible for the entire product development and life cycle process of our AutoStore storage containers (Bin) – with a special focus on plastic parts, and including idea development, research, design, tooling, sampling, testing and release.  We are looking for a development engineer who is interested in the design of plastic parts and the related tooling and production methods.      In this role we can offer a varying “hands on” engineering job in an exciting, competent, and good working environment.  For AutoStore, talent, curiosity, and willingness to learn is important. If you have interest in or knowledge of some of the areas we are looking for, we encourage you to apply for the position. The Modules Bin team is a supportive and small team where you will get the opportunity to participate and grow as a specialist within the field of plastic and design of AutoStore bins being sold across the world.  Location: AutoStore’s head office and test facilities in Nedre Vats, near Haugesund/Norway.  We value flexibility and we offer a 60/40 home office agreement. Travel involved: 0-15% - some traveling, also abroad, will be a part of the job e.g., joining sampling, validation tests or technical trade fairs.   We are Lean, Bold and Transparent - Join our team of creative and innovative individuals as part of a bigger collaborative team.   KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Contribute to all processes related to our plastic module, Bins (containers), such as start-to-finish development, test methodology, research, and continuous improvement. Product and material approval testing including design, setup, and usage of test equipment. Tools and software such as Python, Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), 3D printers or 3D scanners are applied. FEA and FMEA analysis as part of the product design process. Prototyping and cooperation with external development partners. Troubleshooting and root cause analysis as part of product error handling and continuous product improvement.  QUALIFICATIONS:  At least 4-5 years of relevant experience, e.g., knowledge in product design, testing and with plastic materials. Relevant higher education (BSc or MSc) in design, mechanical engineering, process, or similar fields. Experience with CAD (Inventor alt. Siemens NX, SolidWorks) and FEA (Ansys alt. Abacus) tools. Relevant knowledge and experience with among others plastic parts, injection molding, tooling, and 3D printing. English is the working language in AutoStore, and good language skills in English, oral and written, is a prerequisite.
