Job description and context:Diakonhjemmet Hospital invites applications for a 2.5-year full-time (100%) position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow in a neuroimaging study on adolescents with psychotic disorders. The position will be attached to the project "Uncovering novel clinical characteristics, risk factors and brain phenotypes across the spectrum of adolescent psychosis", funded by the Norwegian Research Council with a grant to Psychiatrist and Professor Emeritus Ingrid Agartz. The study is conducted in close collaboration with the Norwegian Centre for Mental Disorders Research (NORMENT;http://www.med.uio.no/norment/english) and the TOP study at the University of Oslo. The postdoctoral research fellow will be affiliated with the NORMENT Imaging Psychosis Research Group (https://www.med.uio.no/klinmed/english/research/groups/imaging-psychosis/).The adolescent psychosis project, Youth-TOP, was launched in 2012 and comprises a biobank and a database of over 200 adolescents with psychosis and healthy controls to date, examined with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and an assortment of cognitive and clinical instruments. The project is part of a larger neuroimaging initiative and accesses data from the TOP study of adults with schizophrenia and bipolar disorders at NORMENT, with the aim to obtain knowledge on the etiology and outcomes of severe mental illness. Youth-TOP actively participates in national and international collaborations and is the coordinating member of the ENIGMA-EOP (early-onset psychosis) working group (https://enigma.ini.usc.edu/ongoing/enigma-eop-working-group/).The postdoctoral research fellow will employ large datasets and advanced MRI methods to characterize brain phenotypes, including cerebral/cerebellar structures, white matter microstructure, cortical folding and myelination, and structural and functional networks. Large-scale analysis of brain and clinical or biological phenotypes will be conducted with the use of both adolescent and adult psychosis samples. Multimodal data will be used for detection, classification and prediction using cognitive, neuroimaging and clinical measures (biomarkers, polygenic risk).Diakonhjemmet Hospital is an equal opportunity workplace, which encourages and promotes the research of all employees, independent of gender, age, or ethnic background.
Main duties and responsibilites:
The postdoctoral research fellow will employ state-of-the-art MRI methods, as well as develop and implement novel MRI methodology.
