Northern Lights delivers CO2 transport and storage as a service. Our aim is to enable the decarbonisation of industrial emissions. Northern Lights is looking for an experienced Senior Reservoir Engineer to help us increase our CO2 storage capacity. The Senior Reservoir Engineer will perform evaluation of safe CO2 storage potential within existing and new licence areas. This position is located in Stavanger.

Our employees can enjoy subsidised lunch in our canteen ‘De 3 stuer’.Your roleHistory-matching of reservoir models in close cooperation with geophysicists, geologists, and rock mechanic professionals. Dynamic reservoir modelling studies to assess and optimise safe CO2 storage through effective pressure and CO2 plume migration management. Support Northern Lights preparations for operations including tools, procedures, and management systems. Support injection optimization, reservoir monitoring and management. Comply and contribute to Northern Lights safety culture.
What we need from you?The Northern Lights team operates with a "one team" and a strong new business mentality with support from shareholders both directly and through various Service Agreements. You will need to be willing and able to challenge conventional thinking and approaches to arrive at innovative, fit for purpose and effective business outcomes.More specifically:Broad experience working as a reservoir engineer across various asset life cycle projects. Extensive experience with reservoir modelling. Able to interpret simulation model outputs confidently and extract significant results into a larger context. Motivated to adapt new tools and workflows. Programming (Python, JavaScript) capabilities are advantageous but not a requirement. Qualifications:You have an University degree in Petroleum Technology or similar, 8 years relevant experience as reservoir engineer. You are service minded, have a high level of personality integrity and ethical awareness. We need you to feel comfortable with working towards tight deadlines, the ability to adapt to different environments and having a high level of self-autonomy, initiative and drive.You have excellent skills in communication, both verbally and in writing, in English. Norwegian langugage skills are an advantage but not a requirement.

Northern Lights JV is responsible for developing and operating CO2 transport and storage facilities, open to third parties, as part of Longship, the Norwegian Government’s full-scale carbon capture and storage project. When it starts operations in 2024, it will be the first ever cross-border, open-source CO2 transport and storage infrastructure network, shipping CO2 to an onshore receiving terminal at Øygarden on the Norwegian west coast, before being transported by pipeline for permanent storage in a reservoir 2,600 metres under the seabed.
