What You Need to KnowThis exciting role in a new high growth area of Proserv provides an opportunity to develop and deliver groundbreaking technologies in real time optimization of wind turbines, other critical energy infrastructure and process plants. You can be based anywhere in the UK with travel to our sites in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Great Yarmouth.The objective of the role is to deliver minimal viable products, future enhancements and releases and support 1st use case projects of this new innovative optimization technology.A technical understanding of numerical optimization methods with a specific focus on model-free optimization methods based on adaptive control methods or machine learning.A practical understanding of process optimization challenges on process plants.An ability to hold meaningful conversations with process operators and operations managers to understand needsWe are looking for someone who can work at our facility either in Trondheim or Stavanger Some of the Key Accountabilities (includes, but not limited to the following)Develop and deliver minimal viable products and future releases/ enhancements in the advanced optimization technology space.Serves as the primary technology point of contact, responsible for technical guidance and overarching technical oversight, including architectural implementation alignment with customers.Understand complex optimization challenges customers have and translates those requirements into deliverable technical solutions.Supports the implementation, of optimization projects.Work directly with external strategic partners and nurture a collaborative culture that facilitates effective and efficient delivery to customers.Lead software development teams using Scrum or agile frameworks.Has the technical ability to build and deliver advanced optimization solutions in, for example, Matlab / Simulink.Responsible for the development and delivery of Proserv’s technology roadmap for advanced optimization technology.Any other delegated responsibilities as instructed by head of sales within the time frame specified in a safe and efficient manor to meet business requirements, provided the instruction is reasonable and you are capable and deemed competent to fulfil these. EducationEssentialMasters or PhD degree qualified in mathematics, physics, machine learning, process or control and automation engineering. Skills & ExperienceThe ability to identify and build trusting relationships with the right people will be advantageous and having the grit, determination, and imagination to overcome barriers is imperative.EssentialEnergetic, experimental, inquisitive, and confident individual.Ability to convey advanced technical information to “non-technical people”.Ability to articulate ‘why’ an approach has been taken and what value was created.Resourceful and assertive in defining needs with drive and grit to deliver.Strong domain knowledge in process optimization challenges ideally in the energy and process industries.Able to demonstrate an understanding of control system architecture used in industrial environments.Working knowledge of developing and delivering software applications.Working knowledge of Matlab / Simulink for modeling and ideally App building.Relevant experience of process optimization / advanced automation challenges in the energy sector.Self-motivation and an ability to work autonomously, efficiently and rigorously including the ability to manage own time and workload effectively.Ability to work unsupervised and exercise initiative to resolve potential problems as an individual and in teams.Flexible with working hours as working outside normal hours of business will be required and is part of the role.Work unsupervised, take responsibility for effectiveness of own work and relate to staff at all levels.Respond effectively to demands of a high and varied workload and changing job priorities.Strong communication skills, confidential, sincere and honest with integrity. PreferredDoctorate in advanced process control or related topics.Competent software engineering skills in computer languages e.g., C++.Demonstrable track record of new product development and delivery. BenefitsA competitive starting salary with an opportunity to advance, which will be dependent on competency starting level.What you receive from Proserv as your employer is so much more than just a salary, we can offerAccess to a very good pension scheme with private health insuranceBike friendly workplaceActive and social teamCanteen and parkingWe are innovative and pioneering How to applyIf you are interested in this position please:Complete the personal details contained in the application below then click Apply.Remember to attach your CV, this is a mandatory requirement of the application process. Attach ant other documentation/covering letter you think may assist with your application - please note that it is preferable that certificates, qualifications etc are not sent at this stage.Applicants under consideration will be contacted on an ongoing basis Please note that Proserv assess all applications based on merit.
