We are looking to strengthen our team of Marine Claims Adjusters based in Bergen or Oslo with a senior hire. Providing a first-class claims service to our clients is central to what we do, and the Marine Claims Adjusting team deals with all types of Hull & Machinery and Loss of Hire claims, such as machinery breakdowns, salvage, collisions, and fires onboard. As a senior member of the Marine Claims Adjusting team your primary responsibilities will be: Adjusting complex Hull & Machinery, Loss of Hire and General Average claims, including third party liability, collision, and recoveriesClose cooperation with Marine Claims handlers on various claims handling aspects including interpretation of policy conditions and recoveriesAssisting and advising brokers and clients on various marine claims adjusting issues, including the interpretation of policy terms and conditionsProviding internal training and advice to your own team as well as to other teamsPromoting Gard’s claims lead product and adjusting capabilities in relevant marketsWho are you:The successful candidate will preferably have a formal degree or certificate in marine claims adjusting plus five or more years’ work experience with a marine insurance provider or broker. A strong ship technical, nautical, legal or other relevant background may compensate for lack of relevant work experience. Furthermore, you:have an eye for detail yet are able to appreciate the wider commercial landscapeare capable of handling large amounts of data, as well as technical and legal texthave good IT skills and are proficient in Excelare able to build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and clientsare able to structure and organize tasks and work independently, yet still be able to perform and contribute to a team-orientated environmentare highly motivated to learn as well as to share knowledgehave a solution and result-oriented mindsethave strong written and oral communication skills in English
