We are looking for a part time Design Technology Teacher starting January 4. 2024. This position requires a suitably qualified and experienced teacher of Design Technology. Consistent with all applications for teaching positions, candidates must have, or be eligible for NOKUT approval of their qualifications. Currently this position is 55% of a full time position. Candidates who have qualifications and/or experience of working as an IT tech integration or with a strong IT background may be offered a full-time position with a balance of DT and IT tech integration.Skills required:Teaching and learning:Provide effective instruction to students, delivering lessons that encompass theory, practical application, and project-based learning.Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation skills among students.Maintain a well-organised and positive classroom environment conducive to learning.Establish and enforce classroom rules and expectations that promote respect.Provide additional support to students who require extra assistance in grasping design and technological concepts. Encourage student participation and engagement in class activities Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents to facilitate their progress.Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and administrators to address concerns and provide progress updates.Facilitate preparation for student-led conferencesCurriculum:Ensure that the curriculum is up-to-date, relevant, and engaging to meet the needs of diverse learners.Overseeing the Design Technology budget, purchasing materials as necessary for the Design Technology programmsKnowledge and expertise in the use of CAD/CAM, such as 3D printing and laser cutting.Knowledge and expertise with a range of specialised DT tools and equipment.Health and Safety:Ensure that all design and technology activities adhere to strict safety standards, promoting a culture of safety among students.Work with the school wide maintenance team to ensure all machinery and equipment are serviced, maintained and used safely.Personal attributes:Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsFlexible and adaptableGood organizational skillsAble to use own initiative whilst also working as part of a teamProactive problem solvingAble to maintain confidentialityAble to maintain professional standardsRespectful of diversity of students and colleaguesWe offer:A very pleasant working environment with many skilled professionalsGreat opportunity to work with people from all over the worldCompetitive conditions and very good pension and insurance schemesA good team with skills and willingness to help and contribute when needed
