Independence is a critical topic for KPMG as a multi-disciplinary audit and advisory business.Our Quality and Risk Management (‘QRM’) department is a tight knit group with responsibility for supporting and guiding KPMG’s auditors, advisors and lawyers in areas which present risks and opportunities for KPMG, including independence.Working closely with the national Ethics & Independence partner and the team in Oslo, you will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of personal and client related independence matters at KPMG Norway, including:Assessing the impacts of changes to independence rulesMonitoring compliance with personal independence requirementsIndependence assessments in relation to potential new public interest entity audit clientsAssessing the permissibility of new advisory and tax servicesPresenting internal training to KPMG employees and partners on independence topicsIdentifying and implementing improvements relating to KPMG’s internal independence systems, processes and controlsThe position will particularly appeal to those who have:An interest in independence and knowledge of the key principles as they relate to KPMG’s businessA background in audit / internal audit or other compliance disciplinesExperience discussing and presenting complex topics and constructively challenging others where necessaryWe are especially interested in hearing from prospective candidates who fulfill the following requirements:Formal education at the bachelor's/master's level in internal audit or with equivalent practical experience2-4 years of work experienceA track record of contributing to process improvement projectsFluency in English and Norwegian, written and spokenQuestions can be directed to patrick.sweeney@kpmg.noAs part of the recruitment process you will be asked to prepare a short presentation on certain key independence related topics to be discussed as part of the interview process.
